Bisoprolol is more effective in preventing atrial fibrillation (AF) after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), according to a controlled trial.
nbsp;
AF is common after CABG and contributes to morbidity and mortality: beta-blockers are generally recommended for prophylaxis. Cardioselective beta-blockers may have advantages in tolerability, and this trial aimed to compare the efficacy or cardioselective bisoprolol and non-selective carvedilol. It involved patients with reduced left ventricular function who had recently undergone CABG: they were randomised to receive double-blind bisoprolol or carvedilol titrated to maximum tolerated dose. Primary outcome was the rate of post-operative AF, and all patients had continuous ECG monitoring for 5 days a...div id=medwormpbiMedWorm Message:/i/b Please have a look at this new site driven by MedWorm: a href=http://www.thebreastcancerdaily.com/ target=_blankThe Breast Cancer Daily/a/p/div
