Myricetin Increases Hepatic Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor #x03B1; Protein Expression and Decreases Plasma Lipids and Adiposity in Rats
The aim of this study was to investigate the antiobesity and antihyperlipidaemic effects of myricetin. Myricetin exhibited a significant concentration-dependent decrease in the intracellular accumulation of triglyceride in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The high-fat diet (HFD)-fed rats were dosed orally with myricetin or fenofibrate, once daily for eight weeks. Myricetin (300#x2009;mg#x2009;kg#x2212;1 per day) displayed similar characteristics to fenofibrate (100#x2009;mg#x2009;kg#x2212;1 per day) in reducing lowered body weight (BW) gain, visceral fat-pad weights and plasma lipid levels of HFD-fed rats. Reversibility of Fenofibrate Therapy-Induced Renal Function Impairment in ACCORD Type 2 Diabetes Participants.
CONCLUSIONSParticipants with significant initial on-trial increases in serum creatinine (≥20%) returned to the same level of renal function as participants receiving placebo while participants who had ≤2% increase in serum creatinine had net preservation of renal function compared with the same unselected placebo reference group. The fenofibrate-associated on-trial increases in serum creatinine were reversible, and the reversal was complete after 51 days off-drug. The similarity of the cystatin C results suggests that the mechanism of this change is not specific for serum creatinine.
