Mylan to release generic Toprol-XL
Southpointe-based Mylan Inc. (Nasdaq: MYL) said it has received approval to sell a generic version of Toprol-XL tablets for hypertension. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave Mylan's subsidiary, Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., approval under the abbreviated new drug application program for Metoprolol Succinate extended-release tablets in 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg and 200 mg, sold by AstraZeneca as Toprol-XL. There were annual sales of $1.78 billion, IMS Health said.
