MHRA: Safety information on medicines for healthcare professionals (April 2007)
The MHRA has compiled a list of letters sent to healthcare professionals in April 2007, to inform of new safety information and advice. The topics include:
• Mabthera#174; (rituximab) - Reports of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy in unapproved indications of systemic lupus erythematosus and vasculitis
• Pioglitazone-containing products - Risk of fractures in women on long-term treatment
• Cabaser#174; (cabergoline) - Pathological gambling and increased libido are potential class effects of dopamine agonists
• Desmopressin - Removal of primary nocturnal enuresis indication
• Ketek#174; (telithromycin) - Important information about restricted indications, contraindications, and safety measures
